December, 8 2009 08:00 PM - Jarvis Cocker
Metropolis Fremantle | 58 South Terrace, Fremantle, Western Australia 6160 - $55.90

Jarvis Cocker first came to prominence as one of the major movers and shakers of Brit-pop, and during the course of a musical career that now spans over 3 decades (and counting) he has lost none of his renowned suave, swagger and wit. Most famously ruling Cool Britannia as Pulp’s enigmatic lead singer and songwriter, he has now established himself as a solo artist with the release of two classic albums. Pulp reached the height of notoriety in the mid-90’s with the release of albums His n Hers, the Mercury Prize winning Different Class, and This Is Hardcore. Highlight singles include Babies, Do You Remember The First Time?, Mis-Shapes/Sorted for E’s & Wizz, Disco 2000, and the anthemic Common People. After Pulp disbanded in 2002 it was a four year wait before Cocker released his solo debut, entitled Jarvis. Welcomed by fans and acclaimed by critics, the album is exquisitely crafted and laced with the characteristic Cocker sophistication and humour. Cocker most recently toured Australia as part of the 2007 V Festival line-up, winning over the crowds his witty, charismatic delivery and high quality musical performances. "Posing, preening and taking the piss from the moment he sets foot on the stage, Cocker grabs you by your corduroy trousers and doesn’t let go..." - 3D World In May this year, Cocker released his 2nd solo album Further Complications (Rough Trade/Remote Control). Spin magazine saluted the 11-track offering: "this collection of surging and reeling tunes is the former Pulp front man’s strongest since Different Class". Throughout the journey Jarvis Cocker’s creativity and versatility have lead to numerous side projects - writing and performance collaborations, penning soundtrack tunes, directing music videos, curating exhibitions including London’s Meltdown Festival, a stint in the band Relaxed Muscle, as well as a spot of lecturing and select TV appearances. In ’95 Pulp headlined Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage - this year Jarvis Cocker returned to Glastonbury to headline the John Peel Stage, before undertaking a number of US and European shows that bring him to Australia this summer.

February, 1 2010 08:00 PM - Ace Frehley
Metropolis Fremantle | 58 South Terrace, Fremantle, Western Australia 6160 - $79+BF

Without a doubt, Ace Frehley is one of the most influential guitarists in rock history and his trademark KISS black-white-and-silver face paint is one of the most recognisable images in rock history. He is the only axeman who has played on every major KISS album. Frehley played with KISS from its inception in 1973 until his departure in 1982. He rejoined KISS in 1996 for a highly successful reunion tour, with his second tenure with the band lasting until 2002. From his captivating persona as KISS’ Spaceman to his infamous Halloween ‘79 interview with Tom Snyder (uproariously commemorated in an iTunes exclusive “The Return of Space Bear”), Ace Frehley is one of the most beloved personalities in rock ‘n’ roll. He’s the man who designed the KISS iconic logo, he delivered an all-time stadium classic in ‘New York Groove’ and he continues to stay relevant and beloved by the likes of sludge-metal kingpins The Melvins and by popping up onstage at Madison Square Garden to rock with the likes of Pearl Jam. On September 15th this year, Ace Frehley released ‘Anomaly’, an album that’s set to become his most successful solo release to date. Including the stone cold instant classic track ‘Outer Space’, this is the first time in nearly 20 years that the legendary guitarist has concocted an explosive new solo effort. Flaunting fiery riffs, pristine production and jaw-dropping craftsmanship, ‘Anomaly’, on Frehley’s own Bronx Born Records, ties together the original KISS axeman’s trailblazing past, present and future. This is Australia’s first chance to catch rock legend Ace Frehley in action SOLO!
