This is Erwan Castex & Luca Mortellaro aka Lucy & Rone’s second release for ProgCity Deep Trax. After their label debut “The Great Heron” they’re back with “Mediocritics”. The Original Mix begins with a filtered down loop around a kick before being flooded by drifting percussions and aerial sustained pads. The break seeps into an obscure sublime hum of sick mushy synths emerging into an irresistible main part. An interplay of high and low syncopated woodwinds seems like talking with the groove. A melancholic deep journey with bittersweet strings and restrained use of a piano can be found on the flipside’s remix by Cosmic Cowboys. Marc Poppcke’s remix rather uses the melodic parts to get the vibe, but focusing to the floor, adding some more percussions, putting a great driving house twist on this release.
