Hello Everyone, I’m excited to say that I will be playing a show with author Antonino D’Ambrosio at Elliot Bay Books in downtown Seattle on Sat. Dec. 12th. The show will be to promote an important new book that he has written about Johnny Cash and the protest album he wrote in 1964 shining the light on the mistreatment... of Native Americans and their struggle for justice. Antonino D’Ambrosio and Rocky Votolato Sat. Dec 12th @ Elliot Bay Books - 7PM 101 South Main Street, Seattle WA 98104 The book is called "A Heartbeat and A Guitar: Johnny Cash and The Making of Bitter Tears". I will be playing several Johnny Cash songs from the "Bitter Tears" album, including "The Ballad of Ira Hayes" along with a few other of my favorite Cash songs. For more info about the book and the show check out the links and quotes below: Teaser Tour Clip http://www.letfuryhavethehour.com/heartbeat/heartbeattourpromo.mov The Laura Flanders Show http://lauraflanders.firedoglake.com/2009/11/18/harvey-cockburn-dambrosio/ "Antonino D’Ambrosio’s book on the making of Johnny Cash’s album "Bitter Tears" is much more than the story behind those extraordinary songs. It is a rich history, not only of Johnny Cash’s life, but of the Indian struggle for justice, which inspired Peter La Farge to write the song ‘The Ballad of Ira Hayes’ and Cash to sing it. The book is full of fascinating character sketches of the great folk singers of the Sixties, and their part in the social movements of that exciting era. I believe D’Ambrosio has made an important contribution to the cultural history of our time." – Howard Zinn Thanks so much for coming out to this important reading!!! Rocky
