December, 5 2009 08:00 PM - Hold Fast (plus special guests)
Cellars at Eastney, Portsmouth, - £5 Advance

“Well, it’s fast & it holds my attention. Driven post punk girlie groove thang” – BBC Introducing “It’s an exciting track [‘Jaws’]– lean and direct, conjures up a sense of early 80s new wave to me. I will keep Hold Fast on my radar.” – Neil McCormick “Tearing out of Portsmouth and fronted by the sweeping vocals of Roberta Collins, Hold Fast sound like a venom-injected Siouxsie and the Banshees complete with a 21st century makeover. Piecing distortion, throbbing basslines and feverish percussion set the stage for new single Jaws, laying the perfect foundations for Collins’ ice-cool tenor to provide the theatrics to a tight and concise pop song. – The Playground (October 2009)

With some of the hottest touring bands emerging onto todays’ music scene, MishMash never fails to be a great night! December, 15 2009 07:30 PM - The Woodentops (plus special guests)
Cellars at Easney, Portsmouth, - £7 Advance

With a stunning new album in the bag, indie guitar legends and dance floor innovators THE WOODENTOPS reform and return to the scene. Loved by DJs as diverse as John Peel, Paul Oakenfold and Danny Rampling, The Woodentops toured extensively with Julian Cope, The Smiths and Everything But The Girl - and their gigs with The Smiths won them a record deal with seminal indie label Rough Trade. The infectious upbeat jangly guitar of early songs like ’Plenty’, ’Move Me’, ‘Well Well Well’ and ‘Good Thing’ was frequently compared to Morrissey and Co, albeit with more diverse influences. They collaborated with Gary Lucas (of Captain Beefheart’s Magic Band) and Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, and The Woodentops became the first band to bring dance music and electronics into indie music. They were pioneers: way before Primal Scream, Stone Roses and Happy Mondays caught onto ecstasy and dance rhythms, The Woodentops recorded an album, ’Live Hypno Beat’, live on ecstasy!

January, 22 2010 07:00 PM - Hardly Heroes (plus Thinking For Tuesday, The Vegas plus The Delegation)
The Boileroom, Guildford, - £6 Advance

The band first formed in the summer of 2006 when they entered Power fm`s rock school competition where the prize was an opening slot for the Zutons at Southampton Guildhall. The competition was closely contested and out of 300 entrants Hardly Heroes finished a credible 2nd. The judges were so impressed that they decided to give the band a support slot with channel 4`s own rock school winner "L’il Chris" which they pulled off with aplomb in front of 8,000 people. In the spring of 2007 the band entered the "live and unsigned" competition and worked their way through the heats to play the final at Portsmouth Guildhall where they emerged as best band in the competition which started with over 10,000 entrants. Hardly Heroes reputation was now cemented as a very popular up and coming band in the local area and lots of media attention followed including several newspaper articles and radio interviews. The band has gained lots of experience in playing in front of large crowds in quality venues for a number of signed acts including the "Attack! Attack!, The Mission District, Young Knives, Jubilee, Hot Club du Paris, The Hot Melts and hard rocking teen punk band Outl4w. Last year the band were invited to London to record their first EP with "One Night Only`s" producer and have since been invited back to record again.

February, 13 2010 08:00 PM - The Silver Beatles
Boileroom, Guildford, - £10 Advance

"Cover bands are big business these days, but this quartet are clearly a cut above most with suits, mop-tops and jerking stage manoeuvres all in place as they blast out ’From Me To You’, ’Roll Over Beethoven’ and ’Please, Please Me’ with note-perfect aplomb." - The Daily Telegraph The band’s aim is to make the show as authentic as possible. It has performed across the UK and internationally and has even received acclaim from Cynthia Lennon herself, who said that the band is: "’lookalike, soundalike and even thinkalike – it’s uncanny!’ The band has played with The Quarrymen, Denny Laine, the Merseybeats and the original Beatles drummer, Pete Best. It has also shared the bill with the likes of Robbie Williams and Madonna.

In 1990, after four MCA albums and sales of over 8 million, Nik left the spotlight to concentrate on song writing and producing. February, 26 2010 07:30 PM - Kate Walsh (plus special guests)
Boileroom, Guildford, - £10 Advance

’Tim’s House’ debuted at 1 in the iTunes Top 100 Kate Walsh returns with her follow up album ’Light and Dark’. Calling Kate Walsh a singer songwriter is like saying Van Gogh was a cartoonist. Kate is, er, different. A 26-year-old from a sailing town in Essex who’s been likened to Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush and Jane Austen, she’s ferociously independent... in every sense. She adores Debussy, studies cello, listens constantly to Classic FM (and little else), bemoans the demise of vinyl and CDs (she finally got an iPod when iTunes gave her one after her last album ’Tim’s House’ knocked Take That off the top of the download chart but rarely uses it), is entertainingly scathing about the conventional music industry ("it’s fickle, selfish, impersonal and backstabbing") – and has established her own cottage industry to do it her way. And when she sits down to write a song you’d better lock up your hearts for you instantly become Kate’s close personal confidante as she bares her soul with shocking candour.

March, 13 2010 08:00 PM - Bog Rolling Stones
Boileroom, Guildford, - £10 Advance

Despite all the larking about the band has earned a reputation as one of the most authentic sounding tribute acts around, tackling the more challenging songs with great enthusiasm. The Bog Rolling Stones are now one of the most popular, sought after live bands in the area. Of course, it’s only Rock ‘n’ Roll…….but a lot of people seem to like it, like it, yes they do!!! Mick Slacker & Co’s tongue in cheek tribute act just gets better and better. Satisfaction’s always guaranteed when these long haired boys play your town! Their tongue in cheek humour, wigs, stripy trousers and boundless energy make them an act not to be missed. The question is...………….would you let your daughter go???
