December, 2 2009 07:00 PM - Cassop and Coal
Cassop, County Durham, Northeast - free (book tickets)

Produced by TIN Arts, Cassop & Coal is created in association with Jane Arnfield, Katie Doherty and Imogen Cloet. Inviting an audience to experience and participate in a theatrical event, the performance reveals the tremendous impact coal has had on the lives of local people and communities. Based on research and enquiries collated from interviews with individuals, families and historians connected to the past, present and future of coal, seven stories are woven through seven locations within Cassop village. Journeying from the post office to the public house and across the land of the old pit heap, this performance is designed to allow provoking thoughts and images to rise in your imagination as the story of coal takes us forward – marking the achievements, desolation and desire for transformation. This theatrical spectacle is ultimately an expression of the future.
