Yogi with singer Dori (Doris McSmith) bassist Burt Boice deliver some tasteful versions of modern hits, jazz and a touch of our samba-jazz grooves. Working with material as diverse at songs by Don Henley of the Eagles to Bread, and sixties soul hits, we add in some jazz from the great American Songbook, throw in grooves and feels from the likes of India Arie and A.C. Jobim. Plus of course I have to have a few Yoginis originals in there, and Dori will sing Songbird (which she does beautifully). Born and raised in Hongkong, Dori is a fully trained classical pianist who has won awards performing in Asia. She additionally has a heart for pop lyricism, as well as a beautiful voice that can sing delicately or belt out a power-ballad as the songs demand. We put our considerable piano skills together (she will have her own piano as well as me), add in Maestro Burt’s touch on his beautiful 110 year old Czechoslavakian contra-bass, and you have the makings for a ripe evening of song-pluckin’!
